vacation

Even during vacation we have to work...
Here is my granddaughter working on a flat Stanley project.

At the same table was a 12 year old cousin trying to tell her that writing was boring and maybe she shouldn't do it.  I returned with "yea...cooking is boring, so maybe I won't cook any more during vacation."  Needless to say, I didn't hear another boring writing comment.

Gynzy

My building now has the new smartboard projectors that don't need a special board.  We are using dry erase boards, but even the wall will work...LOVE....LOVE...LOVE

One of the staff found a new website for interactive whiteboards, so all you others out there might find this helpful.

You do need to create an account, but it is worth it.

PBiS Rally for December

Our last day of school found many classrooms with parties and a PBiS pep rally.  4th graders were in charge of the skit.  The past few rallies have presented our expectations including the good and bad behavior.  I am still to be convinced what the example of the bad behavior helps...so with went with a rap form presentation.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate...and Happy Holidays to others.  I'm off until the 6th, but will be working on student scales...according to Marzano and his student engagement.

What do I love most??

What do I love most?  Instcollage or the 6th grade girls who make my life running smoothly at school.
It's the girls; if I didn't have the girls making bulletin boards, I'd have no reason to mess around with pictures on my phone.  They are so good at making bulletin boards...see example...checking papers for me and sorting and filing papers.  I'm thinking they deserve a really great Christmas gift from me.

doodle away

From doodle art alley  comes free time for my students.  I run various images off on watercolor paper.  The students trace over the black lines with a sharpie and then color with poster crayons.  We then wash them with watercolors.  We mount them on a matching background construction paper and place in the hall above our lockers.  We're starting this project Monday in hopes that it will be completed in less than a week...ha ha!  Pics to follow.

PBiS student team

Our student PBiS team...So proud of the ones chosen.  The students had to apply, have parent permission, and make a time commitment.

Are there any other PBiS teams out there in blogland that have a student team.  What are some of the responsibilities?

Conferences

Conferences are this week.  If you put in 4 extra hours for conferences, does any district give comp time?

This past week was homecoming...and there wasn't a lot of learning going on in our building...everyone was wondering about who would be their twin (twin day)...would I have anything to wear on color day...is my jersey clean for 'favorite team' day...can I work on my drawing for the banner instead of working on homework...I'M GLAD THE WEEK IS OVER.
