The beginning of school promises to be hot, temperature wise (even though I'm enjoying the cooler temps of the Rockies--until tomorrow), so for an afternoon break we'll drink lemonade and listen to The Lemonade War.
This is a story about Evan and his sister. They will both be entering 4th grade in the fall. Sibling rivalry rears its ugly head when they both start a lemonade stand to see who can raise the most money.
Family values, friendships, and a little math computation will make this a great story to enjoy at the beginning of school...and 4th grade.
This is too cool. We are going to use this book as our One School One Book read this year. Last year we did Ole Yeller.
ReplyDeleteMy class loved that book last year. We read it when we are doing the Business unit (OCR unit), and with all the vocabulary words in there it was perfect! I was so excited when Scholastic had it for $1 last year so I could get a class set. :)

I Love My Classroom
I absolutely love this book! I've never used it as a read-aloud, but I'm seriously debating it!
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered whether or not this was worth being ordered thru Scholastic. Your back-to-school lemonade refreshments and read aloud sound perfect! :)
ReplyDeletep.s. The cursive alphabet needs to be posted because our district reorganized this past summer and created a "literacy handbook" part of which lists everything that needs to be evident in classrooms to support a "literate environment." The things we do to make others happy!
