Not quite sure how everyone makes their linky pics...but here's my contribution.
1.  Created a form for checking out books.  I have an old 'white' macbook that I don't use for anything else, therefore I thought it would work best for book checkouts.  I have struggled every year for the best way to check out books from the classroom (my) library.  We'll see how this works.

2.  In a previous blog I mentioned that I was changing to a bright and bold owl theme...I just love the owl from kpm doodles.  AND it seems like there is a lot of 'owl' stuff out there that's not the typical brown owls...I don't like those owls since they seem to get our kittens and baby pheasants...sorry nature lovers.

Theme...

Are there teachers out there who change the theme of their rooms yearly?  For a few years I used a modified 'bee' theme.   This past year I used 'wild about 4th grade'...a jungle theme. 

Since I have been out of school for 3 days...I've had a break and I'm thinking about next year.  I love the owls from kpm doodles and plan to use them in an owl theme.  'Who's Reading' is the idea I have for sharing AR points.
I have a tree where each student will have an owl.  For every 10 AR points students will get a bead to put on a chain which will hang from their owl (pictures to follow this fall).  The chain & beads are theirs at the end of school.  I had a few students wear theirs at the end of this school year.

Anyone else thinking about next fall...all ready? 

The Hardest Days

This week involves 3.5 days of school.  The hardest days of the whole school year...
What does my week look like?

• readers' theater
• autograph books
• thank you notes to staff
• schoolwide movie
• elementary track event 
• Bananagrams/applegram contests
• classroom spelling bee

AND hopefully a nice send-off for a great summer!

 

2.5 weeks and counting

Is it possible that the school year is almost over (May 16 at 11:10 am)?  When is your ending date?  We just finished state testing.  My class didn't do to well, but there are a lot of dynamics in this class along with a lot of ieps. 

Any plans for the summer?  I wish I was going to Hawaii, but not so :(

A Time To...

take a break from classroom ho-hum!

This time of year can be a challenge.  Spring break is over, and what awaits us???

The routine of the day...the week is starting to get a little boring, so for a beak I like doodling.  This time the students will outline, color, and water paint the scene.

Design on cardstock...Outline with a sharpie...Color with construction paper crayons...Watercolor with the watercolors we all used when we were kids.  The designs I chose are from http://www.doodle-art-alley.com/
